“We Are All Syria”
Initiated by Syrian students at the Medical University of Gdańsk, and in collaboration with the Lotus Association, a special event titled “Syrian Cultural Day” was held under the slogan “We Are All Syria”, in a vibrant celebration reflecting the beauty of belonging and the warmth of cultural diversity.
The day served as a cultural and humanitarian bridge between the Syrian people and other nations, offering a valuable opportunity to introduce Polish friends and students from around the world to Syria’s rich history, stunning antiquities, and diverse cultural and civilizational landmarks.
Through a visually immersive presentation filled with historical imagery, the exhibition highlighted Syria’s most iconic archaeological and tourist sites — from Palmyra and Old Damascus to Krak des Chevaliers and the Umayyad Mosque — evoking the grandeur of thousands of years of heritage.
The event also featured a special section for traditional Syrian handicrafts, showcasing handmade Damascene wooden items and decorative artifacts, which fascinated attendees with their intricate details and artistic authenticity — a true reflection of the skill and identity embedded in Syrian craftsmanship.
The Syrian cuisine corner was a major attraction, as the venue filled with the aroma of authentic Syrian dishes, accompanied by traditional Damascene sweets that were warmly received and widely praised by the guests.
The event witnessed a large turnout from the Syrian and Arab community in Gdańsk, alongside many international students of diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
More than just an exhibition, the event became a platform for intercultural dialogue and a humanitarian occasion that showcased the civilized and cultural face of Syria.
